Ric Gamble - Mountain Leader
Over the past 20 years I have enjoyed getting out with groups and exploring the hills, crags and mountains of the British Isles and beyond. Whether it be with a group of young people completing their Duke of Edinburgh expedition, adults taking their first steps into the hills, or developing the navigation and skills of those involved in hill walking training, I have found there is always so much learning and fun to be had. Being out in open spaces is where I love to be, I find every time I am out, it both challenges and refreshes me at the same time. Through leading groups, I have had the privilege to share this love and teach the crucial skills needed to safely enjoy being out in beautiful remote environments.
My background is in Secondary School teaching but over the past few years I have been working full time in outdoor education and development. My Mountain Leader and Orienteering Coaching qualifications allow me to take groups out into the hills, forests and moorlands. I also have an interest in Rescue and Emergency First Aid. As well as holding relevant first aid qualifications, I am a voluntary Community First Responder. When not out orienteering round forests, walking through the hills or climbing mountains, I work as a Club Support Officer for British Orienteering. I am married with two teenage kids who, like me, all love to keep active. It is great being on the Positive Steps Outdoors team, it is always a pleasure getting out and having the time to get alongside people through an amazing shared experience.
